A Roar of joy celebration Chinese New Year with Lion Dance

4th Feb 2025 morning office was alive with the colors and sounds of Chinese New Year celebrations. Red lanterns gently sway in the wind, and the lobby decorations are vibrant, symbolic and meant to bring luck, prosperity and happiness for the coming year.

The New Year was celebrated with a grand welcoming Lion Dance
Lion Dance is commonly performed during the New Year to bring good luck and drive away evil spirits, and the Lion dancers may be accompanied by flute and drum musicians.
It is also performed at other festivals and celebrations as well. In some of these performances, the lions may bite people on their heads to bring good luck

The rhythmic drum beat, and cymbal clash grew louder, signaling the start of the show. Two entertainers, dressed in magnificent lion costumes, enter the office. The lion’s head is adorned with bright colors and intricate designs, its eyes sparkling with life. The lion struts, rears, and bows, its eyes flashing and mouth opening and closing in time with the music

A lion approaches a table laden with oranges and red envelopes, a traditional offering. With a swift movement, the lion “eats” the fruit and peeling, symbolizing the spread of luck and prosperity. The crowd cheered, and I felt a wave of joy and excitement.

Walking away from the festival, I felt a deep sense of joy and hope for the New Year. The lion dance is not only entertaining but also brings a sense of community and celebration together for us as Malaysian.
It was a moment I will cherish and hope to experience again.
Happy Chinese New Year 2025!
