On 12 April 2026, Tamura Malaysia proudly hosted its 1H2026 Suktem event, marking the company’s very first pickleball event. The event was held at PickleX, our event organiser and venue partner, whose well‑equipped courts provided the perfect setting for an exciting and enjoyable day of play. This initiative aimed to bring colleagues together through sports while promoting teamwork, inclusiveness, and a healthy lifestyle 🌱.
From early morning, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and curiosity, especially as many employees were experiencing pickleball for the first time 🎉. Before the matches began, a PickleX trainer conducted a briefing on the basic rules, safety guidelines, and gameplay, ensuring that all participants could take part confidently and safely.
“Fast rallies and focused teamwork.”
A total of six PickleX courts were booked for the event, with four courts dedicated to tournament matches and two courts reserved for training and warm‑up sessions. Employees were encouraged to stretch, practise, and warm up while waiting for their turn, creating an energetic and supportive environment throughout the venue.
“Teamwork has no boundaries.”
The event brought together 40 participants, who were divided into five groups of eight members each, comprising players of different skill levels. The tournament featured men’s doubles and mixed doubles categories. Prior to the first round, the judge re‑explained the rules and allowed a short warm‑up session on court. Each match lasted approximately 15–20 minutes, with the first team to reach 15 points declared the winner, allowing the tournament to progress smoothly ⏱️.
Originating in the United States in the 1960s, pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, making it easy to learn and beginner‑friendly. Throughout the matches, colleagues cheered and encouraged one another, fostering a friendly and positive atmosphere 🤝.
As the day went on, players grew tired with sore arms and heavy legs, yet smiles never faded 😊. Group Kasturi and Group Lekir stood out for their strong teamwork, calm communication, and consistent performance, and were crowned joint champions of the day 🏆. The event concluded with everyone leaving the PickleX courts tired but happy, carrying fond memories and a stronger sense of connection beyond the game.
